Products Disapproved in Google Merchant Center

Google reviews every product it receives. If a product breaks a data rule or policy, Google disapproves it and it won’t show in Shopping ads or free listings.

In Feedy (needs a Google Merchant Center connection):

  1. Open the Google Merchant Center page from Settings → Integrations.
  2. Click Sync Now. You’ll see counts for Approved, Pending and Issues.
  3. Open a product from the Products page. Issues reported by Google appear in the sidebar with a From GMC badge.

Feedy also syncs product statuses automatically every 6 hours.

In Google Merchant Center: open the products list and filter by disapproved or limited products to see Google’s reason for each.

Google’s reasonWhere to fix it
Missing GTIN, brand or MPNProduct page → GTIN / Barcode, Brand, MPN, or set Identifier exists to No for custom or handmade products. See GTIN Errors.
Missing or wrong Google product categoryProduct page → Google Product Category, or the AI button next to it. See Product Categories.
Price mismatchPrices must match your store. Regenerate the feed and keep it on a schedule. See Price Mismatches.
Image problemsFix the image in Shopify, then sync products. See Image Issues.
Policy issue (for example restricted products)These need changes to your products, website or Merchant Center account, not your feed. Follow Google’s instructions for the issue.

Feedy’s own validation catches many data problems before Google sees them. Products with a validation error are left out of Google Shopping feeds until you fix them. See Validation Rules.

  1. Open the feed on the Feeds page and click Regenerate.
  2. If Google fetches your feed by URL, it picks up the changes on its next fetch. You can also trigger a fetch in Merchant Center.
  3. If you upload products directly, upload them again with Upload to GMC on the Products page.

Google can take a few days to review changes. Click Sync Now on the Google Merchant Center page to refresh the statuses in Feedy.

On the Products page, select the products and use Edit Brand, Edit GTIN, Edit Category or Edit Condition & Attributes. See Bulk Editing.
