Glossary

  • AI credit: One credit is used each time the AI returns a suggestion. See AI Credits.
  • Attribute: One piece of product information in a feed, such as title, price, brand or gtin.
  • Brand: The product’s brand. Feedy uses the Shopify Vendor unless you set a brand in Feedy.
  • Catalog: The list of products a platform holds for your store. Meta, TikTok and Pinterest call it a catalog; Google calls it your Merchant Center products.
  • Custom label: Five spare fields (custom_label_0 to custom_label_4) you can fill with your own values, for example “Sale” or a price range, to group products in ad campaigns. See Custom Labels.
  • Data source: Google Merchant Center’s name for where products come from: a feed file, a scheduled fetch of a URL, or the API.
  • Disapproved: A product the platform has rejected, so it can’t be shown in ads or listings until the problem is fixed.
  • Feed: A file listing your products in the format a platform expects. Each feed in Feedy has its own platform, market, product selection and settings.
  • Feed URL: The permanent web address of a feed. Platforms download your feed from it. See Feed URLs.
  • Field mapping: Which Shopify field fills each feed attribute. See Field Mapping.
  • GMC (Google Merchant Center): Google’s tool for managing the products you show on Google Shopping and in Shopping ads.
  • Google product category: A category from Google’s product taxonomy, such as “Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Dresses”. Feedy requires one on each product for Google Shopping feeds. See Google Product Categories.
  • GTIN: Global Trade Item Number: the barcode number on a product (UPC, EAN, ISBN or JAN). Feedy reads it from the Shopify Barcode field. See GTIN Errors.
  • Identifier exists: A Google attribute that tells Google whether a product has a GTIN or MPN. Set it to “No” for custom, handmade or vintage products that don’t have one.
  • Item group ID: An ID that tells a platform that several items are variants of the same product.
  • MPN: Manufacturer Part Number: the product code the manufacturer uses.
  • Product highlight: A short bullet point about a product, shown by Google in some listings. See Product Highlights.
  • Product type: Your own category for a product. Feedy uses the Shopify Product type field.
  • Scheduled fetch: A platform setting that downloads your feed URL on a regular schedule.
  • SKU: Stock Keeping Unit: your own product code for a variant.
  • Sync: Copying your products from Shopify into Feedy. See Syncing Products.
  • Validation: Feedy’s checks on each product against a platform’s rules. Results are errors (the product is left out of that platform’s feeds), warnings and recommendations. See Validation Rules.
  • Variant: One version of a product, such as a size or colour. Feedy lists each product once in a feed, using its first variant. See Variants.
  • CSV, TSV, XML: The three feed file formats Feedy can create. See Feed Formats.
