Setting Up Feed URLs in GMC

The simplest way to get products into Google Merchant Center (GMC) is to give it your feed URL. Google downloads the feed on a schedule you choose. You don’t need to connect GMC to Feedy for this.

  1. In Feedy, go to Feeds and open your Google Shopping feed.
  2. Click Copy URL.

The URL looks like https://feedy.lenuslabs.com/feeds/<feed-id>.tsv. The ending matches the feed’s format (.tsv, .xml or .csv). See Feed URLs and Access.

Google’s menus change from time to time, so check Google’s help on scheduled fetches if a step looks different. In general:

  1. In Merchant Center, go to your product data sources and add a new product source.
  2. Choose to add products from a file, using a link to the file (a scheduled fetch).
  3. Paste your Feedy feed URL.
  4. Set the country and language to match the feed’s Target Market in Feedy.
  5. Choose how often Google fetches the file, for example daily.
  6. Save, then run a fetch to test it.

Google only sees what’s in the feed when it fetches. If you change products often:

  1. Turn on automatic regeneration for the feed, for example At specific times every morning.
  2. Set Google’s fetch to run a little after Feedy’s regeneration.

Public feed URLs can be cached for up to an hour, so leave some time between regeneration and Google’s fetch.

If you’ve turned on Feed Security, use the Protected URL that includes ?token=... when you add the feed to Merchant Center. Without the token, Google gets an “Authentication required” error.

Create a separate Feedy feed for each country or language you sell to, and add each URL to Merchant Center with matching country and language settings. Feedy doesn’t convert prices, so each feed’s currency should match the currency your Shopify prices are in.
